Where to dispose of paint, chemicals and batteries
Household hazardous waste programs take oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals and batteries. Many run on collection days rather than daily, so check the schedule before you go.
How to do it
- Keep products in original, labeled containers.
- Check whether latex paint is accepted. Many programs ask you to dry it out and trash it instead.
- Look up the next collection event or the permanent drop-off hours.
What to avoid
- Don't pour chemicals or paint down drains or storm sewers.
- Don't mix products together.
